Project study 2012
Realisation 2014 – 2016
In-keeping with the vision of a new urban district planned for Feldbreite, this project proposes a unified design approach across both sites. Each of the two long buildings proposed is structured by the positioning of four different housing typologies within the volume, the placement of which is visible in the composition of the facade.
The location of one-and-a-half floor high live-work ateliers leads to a shift in scale along the façade of each building. In the building on site A3 this accent marks the change in rhythm from Seetalstrasse to Mooshüslistrasse. The change in façade composition in the building on site B2 divides the facade asymmetrically and emphasises the continuity of Mooshüslistrasse. The overarching rhythm links these two accents, strengthening the relationship between the two buildings and defining the public space of Mooshüslistrasse.
The definition of the wide pavement next to the buildings, with the public realm carried right to the façades, makes reference to boulevards and creates a distinctly urban character.
