Residential development for senior citizens, Minergie standard
Municipality of Schenkon
study 2006, 1st prize
realisation 2012 – 2014
As the spatial and architectural reality of the dispersed settlement structure of Schenkon offers few points of reference for new proposals, this project creates a new identity from its immediate context and from the architectural Zeitgeist.
An independent logic was developed for the project, based on collected spatial and narrative-forming references, as a means of defining not only the buildings themselves but also the public spaces between, thus giving the project a definite identity.
The concept of thematic overlaying of materials and surfaces enables varied experience of spaces, the perception of which shifts between massiveness and fragility depending on intensity of light.
In this way an exciting living environment is created for the residents, which can be discovered anew every day.
